Language quality assurance (LQA)
LANGUAGE QUALITY ASSURANCE (LQA) is widely used in localisation process, where it is all about adapting a product or a service for a target market with a different cultural context.
LQA or measuring and evaluating the translated texts is a service that we offer to our customers be it our own end-clients or other translation agencies.
IN THE LQA PROCESS THE ORIGINAL AND THE TARGET TEXT ARE ANALYSED IN COMPARISON TO EACH OTHER.
Here, the customer can be assured that the translator and the editor are not one and the same person. Many translators often try to do self-proofreading or copy-editing, which is not very effective. The LQA process is intended to guarantee that the final text is reviewed by a linguist in a local context and the translation is a perfect rendition to the target locale meaning that the proper linguistic phrasing is used i.e. local terms, cultural accuracy, idiomatic expressions, etc. It also checks the translation for the consistency of grammar, industry specific terminology, etc. Very often country specific legislation has to be considered.
Our regional native speaker editors and proofreaders perform LQA for localisation projects with Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia as the target markets. In the near future, we are planning to broaden the scope of languages for the LQA service.
